Nnewi Motorcycle Parts Dealer Arrested With Drugs On His Way To China

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 39-year old motorcycle parts dealer, Ogbodo Chibuzor David for trying to smuggle 11.06kg of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis to China.

The suspect who concealed the drugs in various food items was arrested following the discovery of cannabis inside his bags at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos when he was about to board a Qatar Airline flight.

The suspect who deals in motorcycle parts at Nnewi pleaded that he decided to smuggle drugs because someone duped him which made his business collapse.

“I gave a business partner the sum of 30,000 dollars to supply me goods and he disappeared. That brought my business to its knees and I have been struggling to take care of my wife and child since a year ago.

“I met many people for financial assistance but nobody was willing to help until I was wrongly advised. A friend told me to smuggle cannabis to China,” Ogbodo stated.

The NDLEA commander at the airport, Mr. Hamza Umar said the suspect would soon be charged to court.

A man, said to be a pastor, and a woman are in Police net in Asaba, the Delta State capital for allegedly killing two children with a deadly substance sold by the pastor for N1,850.

The Delta State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, in a release, said the suspects are in custody helping the police with relevant information.

According to Kalu, “on July 25, at about 4.00 am, the Police at Abraka Police Station received information that a woman, Ese Oghenevwe (25), of Urhuoka quarters, Abraka had killed her two sons namely, Prayer Clement (9 months) and Wisdom Clement ( 2 years) by giving them a liquid substance to drink.

“Based on the information, detectives arrested the said Ese Oghenevwe. The suspect revealed that the substance was given to her by one Apostle Austin Eduviere of Triumphant World International Church, Abraka for healing purposes as the Apostle claimed he had prayed over it.

“Meanwhile, the said Apostle Austine Eduviere has also been arrested and he is helping the Police in their investigation. The suspect disclosed that the said substance was a mixture of water and salt which he sold to people for N1,850.00 for healing of various sicknesses after praying for them.”

Nigerian Soldiers’ Uniform To Have A New Look [SEE]

According to reports, officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army will soon get a new set of uniforms with a different look.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah, disclosed this at the end of his tour of army formations in Lagos, saying that the new uniforms are currently being sewn at the Nigerian Army Tailoring Department in Yaba.

He also added that the new military fatigues will make officers and soldiers appear smarter.

He said, “The Nigerian Army has decided to change the camouflage uniform of the service. We have also decided to make it ourselves so that it will have a uniform look. We will not allow anybody to make them for us. They are currently being made at the Nigerian Army Tailoring Department at Yaba, Lagos State. It will make us look smarter and better.”

How do people become infected with the virus?

Ebola is transmitted through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals. In Africa infection in humans has happened as a result of contact with chimpanzees, gorillas, fruit bats, monkeys, forest antelope and porcupines found ill or dead in the rainforest.

Once a person becomes infected, the virus can spread through contact with a sufferer’s blood, urine, saliva, stools and semen. A person can also become infected if broken skin comes into contact with a victim’s soiled clothing, bed linen or used needles. Men who have recovered from the disease, can still spread the virus to their partner through their semen for seven weeks after recovery.

Mikel Obi To Stay On At Chelsea To Bag British Passport

AfricanFootball.com can exclusively reveal that Nigeria World Cup star Mikel Obi will stay on and fight for his Chelsea future because he is due to get his British passport in October.

A close associate of the Chelsea midfielder informed AfricanFootball.com Mikel could have readily taken up offers from clubs like Monaco and Juventus this summer, but for the fact that this could deny him aBritish passport in October.

“Mikel will be a British citizen by October and that was one of the main considerations why he has opted to stay put at Chelsea at least for the time being,” the player’s close associate informed AfricanFootball.com

“There are offers from clubs like Juventus, Galatasaray and Monaco, but he would rather get his passport before he considers any of them.”

The Nigerian law allows for dual citizenship and so the likes of Tijjani Babangida, Odion Ighalo, Bennedict Akwuegbu and Bartholomew Ogbeche carry two passports.

AfricanFootball.com has also been told Mikel could well consider a January exit from Stamford Bridge by the time he gets his passport and by then he is still playing a bit role at ‘The Blues’.

The 27-year-old Mikel joined Chelsea in 2006, winning several major honours including UEFA Champions League and Europa League as well as the English Premier League title.

However, last season he made a total of 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.

He has a contract with the London club till June 2017.
